The core technology of AJ eBiochip is its patented silicon-based microarray system with fully electrical detection via nanometer-sized electrodes. This technology stems from long-term R&D at the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon Technology in Germany. The combination of microarrays with integrated electronics and sophisticated microfluidics enables AJ eBiochip to develop highly miniaturized and portable analytical devices. The microarrays have a "low-densitiy" format where advanced piezo-spotting techniques are used to produce functional biointerfaces. The excellent selectivity of the biointerface is coupled to exceptional sensitivity of a combined enzymatic and signal amplifying electrochemical detection. This allows the rapid and quantitative detection of all types of affinity forming biomolecules, e.g., DNA, RNA, and proteins.
